The Spirit of Christmas

This time of year we hear plenty about the spirit of Christmas. Have you ever stopped to think what the spirit of Christmas is? Many define it as a spirit of joy, peace, and time with family. I would say this is partly correct, but it is a definition given to us by the world. The spirit (or attitude) of Christmas can be found in Philippians 2:8:

And being found in appearance as a man, He (Jesus) humbled Himself and
became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

We see that the example of Jesus on the original Christmas day was a spirit of humility. I do not need to go into all the details of the previous verse, but understand that humility is the basis of our relationship with God. With this in mind, how is your humility? As you rush around town and stand in line to buy those perfect gifts, how is your attitude toward others? I believe the world is waiting to see the true spirit of Christmas - believers clothed in humility.

Personally we are closing on our house in Eutawville today. Imagine, selling a lake house when the water levels are at an all time low; selling a house in Eutawville where people are not moving in by the thousands; and selling a house period in today's market. As a realator told us last night, "It is a miracle your house sold!" Thank goodness God is in the miracle business!!
