Why Do You Do What You Do?

Came across this verse in Titus 1:3 this morning: but has in due time manifested His word through preaching, which was committed to me according to the commandment of God our Savior;

This may not seem astounding to you, but to me when Paul says that He has been commanded by God to preach what was committed to him - a light came on. That is why Paul could not quite preaching the word even when he was beaten, stoned, left for dead, shipwrecked, put in prison, etc. He was living out his command.

Sometimes I wonder if people are self-called to the ministry or commanded by God to preach the word. Just last night I was having a pity party (I know it is hard to believe) wishing I could quit it all. Deep inside I knew I could not because something was keeping me at it - now I know it is the command that God has put on my life to reach into the darkness with the light of Jesus Christ.

What about you? What are you doing out of the command of God? Maybe there would not be so much burn out in churches if people would follow God's command for them, not their own desire, the desire of a church, or even a denomination. I don't know about you, but today I find joy in all circumstances knowing that I am just living out the command of God.

By the way, Oswald Chambers today is exceptional and is similar to my post today. Check it out!

Good word Mike. The 'why' will influence the 'what'. Thanks for all you are saying and doing.
