Is it Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays?

This time of year always brings out emotions about saying Merry Christmas. Some stores and businesses do not say the word Christmas in fear of ostracizing those who do not celebrate Christmas or even believe in Christ. It sure will fire up the traditional Baptist and they will boycott stores and go out of their way to say Merry Christmas to all who will hear.

Here is my only thought about that, if you do not live the life of Christ during the year then why get so bent out of shape when others choose not to say the word Christ in Christmas? Remember living the life of Christ is not attending church services or even inviting people to go to church with you. Living the life of Christ is yielding our lives to the Holy Spirit. Obeying when He speaks - loving God and loving man.

We sure are quick to say Merry Christmas, but slower to respond to the person in need. Have we fed the hungry, clothed the naked, given drink to the thirsty, or visited the sick? (See Matthew 25:31-46) If not then we are all words to offer a Merry Christmas.

What would happen this year if we would stop worrying about what is said and become intentional about what we do? What if we were to live out Christmas rather than just talk about it? Maybe we would not have to boycott stores to get our way (or might I say tradition), maybe they would see people that are different and living out Christmas before them. Maybe for the first time they would understand that Christmas is not just a word, it is a Savior!
